The Consumer Product Safety Commission has
issued a recall of 4.7 million
Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleepers after reports of the deaths of more than 30 infants and other serious injuries from using the product. The CPSC shortly thereafter issued another
recall for “
all models of Kids II Rocking Sleepers” after 5 infant deaths and other serious injuries were linked to the products.
Rocking sleepers are designed to hold an infant and keep them entertained, or lull them to sleep. CPSC warned consumers to immediately stop using the products after linking more than 30 infant deaths to them,
while the Wall Street Journal reported that as many as 700 injuries may have resulted from use of the Fisher-Price sleepers particularly.
Rocking sleepers are angled sleepers designed to begin rocking back and forth with a gentle push, and are intended to give parents an opportunity to let their child sleep safely while they perform other tasks.
They include three-point harnesses designed to keep the baby in place. However, babies who are able to turn over or pull themselves up may be asphyxiated by the padding on the product, and the restraints can
cause strangulation or prevent the baby from moving out of a dangerous position.
Meyerson & Miller is investigating multiple reports of serious infant injuries related to the use of Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleepers and all models of kids2 rocking sleepers.
If your infant suffered a severe injury or death as a result of using one of these rocking sleepers, you may be entitled to monetary compensation. For more information about
