Zantac Cancer Litigation

A recent FDA study concluded that Zantac contains dangerous levels of a cancer-causing chemical and increases the risk of developing cancer of the stomach, kidney, liver, esophagus, uterus, and bladder. If you or a loved one regularly took Zantac prior to being diagnosed with cancer you may be entitled to compensation for damages such as medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and wrongful death.

Since reaching the market in 1981, Zantac has been widely used to treat conditions such as acid reflux and ulcers. The drug is frequently prescribed by healthcare providers but is also available as an over the counter medication. In 1987 Zantac became only the second drug in history to reach $1 billion in annual sales, and to this day it remains one of the most commonly prescribed and purchased drugs in the United States.

Unfortunately, a study performed by online pharmacy Valisure in September of 2019 found that Zantac and its generic equivalent ranitidine, contained an unsafe level of the cancer-causing chemical NDMA. According to the FDA, the safe daily intake limit of NDMA is 96 nanograms. The 2019 study showed that a single Zantac pill could contain as many as 3 million nanograms of NDMA. Many prominent manufacturers of Zantac and ranitidine have pulled their products off the pharmacy shelves due to the dangerous levels of NDMA, but for many consumers and patients this effort is too little too late.

The cancers that are most closely linked to Zantac use are those affecting the stomach, kidney, liver, esophagus, uterus, and bladder.
