The FDA has determined that the used of certain Excelsior medical saline syringes can cause death or serious injury. On September 2, 2010, Excelsior Medical Corporation issued a recall of certain lots of its Disposable 5 ml fill in 6 cc pre-filled saline syringes, due to the possibility of leaking and loss of sterility. The FDA has classified this as a Class I recall, meaning that there is a reasonable probability that use of the product will lead to serious injury or death.
The recall only affects syringes with the product code numbers E0100 50, 10056 1000, 10056 240, 14056 240, 910056 1000, and S5. This code can be found on the barcode and product label. Anyone who has used one of the faulty syringes is at a high risk for developing a potentially deadly systemic infection and should contact a doctor immediately.
If you or a family member suffered an adverse reaction after using an Excelsior Disposable 5 ml fill in 6 cc pre-filled saline syringe, you may be entitled to monetary compensation.
